week of winter wierdness

Monday I ran 6 miles on the IHS track during my planning period. With a winter storm brewing I figured I'd better get some sort of run in with just 5 days to go until the 20k. Good thing I did because freezing rain,sleet and snow have made running hazardous ,if not impossible. We were snowed out from school today and again tomorrow.
I did a core work-out today. Planning on a long walk tomorrow.
With a slow warming trend forecast, I'm wondering if the course at Mohawk will be clear by Saturday.

countdown

With 1 week to go, I guess I've managed enough work to run a decent 20k. The past 2 weeks seem to have been more recovery than anything. But with the long runs and the sleep problems combined I think rest was the only sensible option. I did have a spirited track work-out on Thursday which is encouraging whether it translates to a strong 20k or not.

I've started myself back on 1/3 of a dose of amitriptyline and my sleep has improved. The piercing head pains have diminished and I'm feeling refreshed when I wake up.
The only downside thus far (3 days into dosage) is restless legs for a couple of hours in the evening.

Alternate Route

Had an unusual week. Probably due to Sundays 18 miler. Tuesday, I just felt somewhat mechanical and cut my planned 10 to a so so 8 miler. Then Wednesday I plain old didn't feel like lacing them up so I blew off my planned speed work and registered a zero in the book. Thursday I had bball at Berryhill so that left me with a Friday late evening run that got treacherous with the headlights so I rerouted to finish with route 66 traffic jumping over my shoulder. Had to take a pit stop at q-trip. Only good part of it was I kicked it in pretty good from 2 miles out. Try again on Sunday. 2 weeks til 20k day.

3 more weeks

Planning on 18 tomorow. Ran a strong but not awesome 10 miler on Friday. I may have to adjust my time goal for the 20k on the 31st. I had thought that maybe I could pull off a 1:12 something, but now I'm thinking 1:14 - 1:15. I'll see how the next 10 to 15 days go before it's more clear.

Sticking with my strength routine fairly well.
Head sensations, head pains and insomnia persist.
