kidney Klassic 5k 17:02

Better focus than last week. I'm starting to get into a racing frame of mind. My legs are moving with my feet in a manner that feels like the Pete of recent past. Next week a race at Mohawk park could reveal the truth.

Day Ohn Day 5K

The Beginning. The name of the race. Nice. I ran a 17:04. Much better focus. Effort. Maybe a new beginning. It's never too late to begin again.

Weekly fitness report

Ran a cool 10 miles in the hills on Sunday. Ran again on Tuesday, 7 on a hilly course on a humid and windy day. Biked 16 on Wednesday, half of which was in a rain shower. Refreshing! Thursday I ran 7 more. I've done push-ups and curls a couple of times this week. Also I've climbed stadium stairs at school 2 times this week, (100 yesterday, 150 today). Planning on a 5 mile race in Tulsa on Saturday.

fantasy journey

many times i see myself walking along a highway. i hear the oncoming cars, trucks and motorcycles. the people inside the vehicles see me and feel sorry for me, or are frightened of who or what i might be. i am scared of them as well, but i am safe. i am exactly where i want to be. there is no safer place.
i feel the heat from the road beneath my feet. i hear the insects and field mice in the scrubby grass along side the road. i watch butterflies and moths sail with the swirling breezes kicked up by traffic whizzing past. the sweat on my collar and my shadow keep me company. where i am going is not important. why i am going is all that matters. searching for something that is always with me but can't be found without a long journey.when and where i find it wont be in a single moment. it won't be at any particular place on a map. i may not even recognize what i'm looking for when it comes upon me or i upon it. in fact i may never know exactly what it is im in search of. but the journey feels right. if it no longer feels right, i will think of something else to do. and if possible, i will do it.

SEMI SUCCESS

motorbiked to the Friday evening race. I won easily with a 17:24 clocking. $100 prize.
Then early this morning Brenda and I journeyed to Stilwell to take on the Strawberry Festival 5k. I finished 3rd. My time was 17:30something. I won $75. That covers the fuel, entry fees, snacks and the garage sale expenditures. (Brenda loves Saturday road races). We had a jolly good time.

Road Trips

Going to Muskogee Friday evening for a 5k race, then again Saturday morning to Stilwell for the Strawberry Festival 5k. Both offer cash prizes. The only catch is that you have to burn expensive fossil fuels to get to the starting line. Then you have to win to claim the cash. Imust be out of my mind.

Getting it right

I seem to have gotten back in a true groove. Not that I'm running exceptionally well because I'm not. The thing I like is that my heart and mind are on the same page. In the past I felt as though my mind and body had made an agreement. Communicating with one another to make the best of each days effort. Resting when the body said rest, and pushing hard when the body said GO!
I think there has been a reunion.
