An old gray hawk has been hanging out in the trees of our back yard lately. He's picked away at the Christmas turkey carcass I threw out on the 'ol burn pile until all that's left is clean bone. I left a piece of chicken for him this morning but he didn't seem interested.
I think he's here for more than a hand-out. Haven't figured out what that is just yet but I suspect it has something to do with Amy's illness and my internal responses (worry,anxiety,hypochondria,etc.).
Maybe I'm not seeing things from a wide enough perspective. My focus on things I cannot control have taken many of my internal circuits to near the red zone. Got to cool the wiring before things get out of hand.
10 miles today. 40 for the year

So sorry to hear about Amy. Anything we can do to help? The hawk has a taste for turkey over chicken, can you really blame him?

Amy went through a hellish November.Frequent bloody stools, rapid heart rate, dehydration, stomach pains, fatigue, weight loss. She has been diagnosed after a colonoscopy with either Ulcerative colitis or Crohns disease.A month long steroid treatment has brought most of the symptoms under control. She missed the week of school before finals but managed to salvage her semester. She's gained most of her weight back and her energy level is good. Going to a specialist (gastroenterologist)on Friday to form some kind of game plan to manage her condition.
Back to college on Sunday.

What an ordeal. Sounds like she is getting pretty good and thorough care. Gwen used to work as a nurse in the G.I. clinic and I'll see if she can shed any light. Let me know if they can't confirm her diagnosis or you want a second opinion and I'll check if any of my colleagues can recommend someone.

Hi Pete, I spoke with Gwen. She indicated that its likely she is likely to have some more extensive (aka lousy intrusive) testing before they can tease out what the cause is. She did know some solid G.I. docs in the clinic when she worked there some years ago, and if you need a second opinion we'll be happy to look them up on your behalf. Our best wishes go out to you all.
