Saturday 16

Foggy, cool, no wind. Ideal conditions.
Motivated to have a beneficial run. Mission accomplished. 16 miles in 1:46-1:48
1 week before 25k in Oklahoma City.
Single -age State Record is 1:39:06
If weather cooperates that should be managable.

  • Awesome. Without trying to sound too much like a fortune cookie, your mental focus really is in step with your training, and it sounds like a great place to be.

  • P.S. I don't know if you saw the x-country skiing sprint yesterday where they had to switch skiing styles in the middle, but whooof, it was a sprint to the end and the Swede held everyone off, seemingly exhausted but in reality holding enough back that he had left something in the tank for the final sprint.

  • I'm really comfortable with the elevated work-load I've placed on myself.
The increases were gradual and consistently paired with rest intervals.
In all the years I've been running I think this has been the best managed winter phase I've been through. After next weeks 25k I'm going drop mileage for 2 weeks then build back for what I hope to be a strong spring racing season.
I missed the xc ski race you were talking about. I hope to see some more before the end of the winter games. They are my favorite.

  • Love it when the plan plays out and it all comes together. Great work!
